The trabecular pattern of bone in radiographs.

چکیده
This image-object relationship has been evaluated in a radiographic study of ox femora. The soft tissues were removed from the proximal ends of 5 specimens and the bones were each cut in the medio-lateral plane into 5 slices. The image of the trabecular pattern on the radiograph of each slice was very different to that of the whole bone. These trabecular patterns are diagramatically represented in Fig. 1.

Dentomaxillofacial Radiographic Changes in a Group of Iranian Patients with End Stage Renal Disease Undergoing Hemodialysis
Introduction: This study aims to evaluate the dentomaxillofacial radiographic changes in end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients who were on hemodialysis. Methods: Parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) measurements, as well as Panoramic and periapical radiographs were obtained from seventy four patients with a history of end stage renal disease (ESRD). Re...
متن کاملMandibular Trabecular Bone Analysis Using Local Binary Pattern for Osteoporosis Diagnosis
Background: Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD) and micro-architectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility and increased fracture risk. Since Panoramic image is a feasible and relatively routine imaging technique in dentistry; it could provide an opportunistic chance for screening osteoporosis. In this regard, numerous...
متن کاملEvaluation of trabecular bone patterns on dental radiographic images: influence of cortical bone
For some authors trabecular bone is highly visible in intraoral radiographs. For other authors, the observed intrabony trabecular pattern is a representation of only the endosteal surface of cortical bone, not of intermedullary striae. The purpose of this preliminary study was to investigate the true anatomical structures that are visible in routine dental radiographs and classically denoted tr...
متن کاملAnatomical variations of trabecular bone structure in intraoral radiographs using fractal and particles count analyses
PURPOSE This study was performed to evaluate possible variations in maxillary and mandibular bone texture of normal population using the fractal analysis, particles count, and area fraction in intraoral radiographs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Periapical radiographs of patients who had full mouth intraoral radiographs were collected. Regions of interest (100×100 pixels) were located between the tee...
متن کاملSelecting regions of interest on intraoral radiographs for the prediction of bone mineral density.
OBJECTIVES A previous study showed that the trabecular pattern on dental radiographs correlates with femoral and spinal bone mineral density (BMD). The objective of this study was to determine if the correlation is affected by the size and location of the region of interest (ROI). METHODS In a European research project on osteoporosis, BMD was measured at the left hip and the lumbar spine of ...
